Our client is one of the world's leading provider of high-technology systems. This particular project focused on redesigning their Terminal Management System. TMS is an integrated bulk distribution solution for petroleum, fertilizer, and chemical companies. It provides management of tank farm automation, product movement, driver access and security, inventory control, dispatching and the generation of manifests.

The challenge

With great Business comes greater complexities. The complexity of the Organization’s product led to the search for redesigning their existing Terminal Management System. The challenge was to restructure the system to be scalable and at the same time with ease of control and use. With a vision to enable growth and enhance the information management capabilities, the Organization had to work in the existing ecosystem. Also the intent of the redesigning the Terminal Management System was to reduce application lifecycle cost and to get rid of technology constraints for compatibility. The Solution

Opalina redesigned the entire Terminal Management System(TMS) of the organization which in turn eased the integrated monitoring. The System now provides a bulk distribution solution for petroleum, fertilizer, and chemical companies. It enabled a whole new plethora of management of tank farm automation, product movement, driver access and security, inventory control, dispatching and the generation of manifests. The system was built to integrate and control loading racks and associated equipment, pumps, valves, motors, weigh scales, meters, card readers, data entry terminals, remote connections, printers etc. In addition to the core functionality, the system was also designed to provide features designed to automate truck, railcar, ship and barge, and pipeline receipt/shipment. Every Challenge that the conglomerate presented was untangled with a solution that was easy to use and stuck to the Values of the Company.

The Result

The product now has multitasking features to allow data exchange between the automation system and corporate data systems. The system is scalable and can accommodate a small terminal and yet allow for growth at the load rack. Ease of use and control is experienced, that allows the Business to envision newer horizons. The System provides a growth path for future integration and expansion of operations without losing the initial investment in the original system.
